Domain names consist of two parts: a name part (also known as Second-Level Domain) and an extension (the so-called Top Level Domain). In the domain name example.com ‘example’ is the name section and ‘.com’ the extension.

When the design is finished, you have a nice website, a matching domain name and a set of e-mail addresses. Now the only thing you need to do is put the site online so Net users can actually visit it.

Websites get accessible when you place them on the web space of the Net. Compare this for instance with a file on your own PC. When you write a letter in Microsoft Word, you must save it in order to be able to read it again later. That is the same with a website, although a site is usually not stored on your own PC, but on the computer of a specialized company that offers web space, i.e. a web host or hosting provider.
